Albright Follows Amaro From Field to Front Office

Former MLS player Chris Albright and Phillies General manager Ruben Amaro each starred in his sport at Penn Charter in Philadelphia, Amaro as a member of the Class of 1983 and Albright in the Class of 1997.  Each went on to play his sport at a prestigious college and reach the sport's national championship game - Amaro at Stanford and Albright at University of Virginia.  Each went on to play his sport as a professional in Philadelphia and elsewhere.

When Amaro finished his time as a player he moved into the front office as assistant general manager of the Phillies.  Now Albright is taking the same route from field to the front office.

After his illustrious career, which included 22 caps, Albright announced his retirement from the Philadelphia Union last fall.  Last month he was named as the team's assistant technical director.  The team said Albright’s primary responsibilities will consist of assisting in player management and movement, while also being involved in player and coaching decisions.

“We’re extremely excited to have Chris join our staff,” team manager John Hackworth said in a press release. “He is a respected figure among our coaching staff and in our locker room and his knowledge and experience as an MLS player will be an excellent addition.”
